As we move into 2016 the theme for this year’s Rezonance NYE Festival is THE JOURNEY

The year 2016 is represented by the number 9 (2 + 0 + 1 + 6 = 9).

In the Tarot The Hermit is the 9th trump or Major Arcana card. The Hermit is often portrayed as alone or isolated – his appearance can reflect that but at an inner level, the mystery of the Hermit is much more spiritual and re-assuring for he symbolises the withdrawal into one’s own centre point, where the directions of the still inner voice may be clearly heard and interpreted.

The Hermit lives in the quiet place we retreat to when we meditate, or dream. He is the philosopher within, the spiritual guide who leads us to the higher realms. He encapsulates the untapped wisdom and realisation within every one of us. Through him we touch our Higher Self, and the wealth of energy and power in the Universe. The message of The Hermit is one of self-acceptance and self-confidence. He asks you to radiate a higher spiritual force and help ‘light’ the way for others. You can become a lantern for fellow souls in distress. He assists with his wisdom, guidance and all of his higher learning an intellectual knowledge. The Hermit depicts someone who is of pure intent, and who is a seeker of truth and wisdom and speaks the truth, always. The Hermit teaches by example.

The Hermit reflects that you are engaging in a period of soul searching. You want to seek the truth at all costs. You desire a new direction in life and, as a result, have recently begun a journey of self-discovery and contemplation. There comes a point in life when we begin to question the status quo, knowing that there is a deeper meaning to life, and thus, we begin to search for it. The divine number 9 is a number of harmony representing the inspiration and perfection of ideas. In numerology 9 stands apart from any other number. For example when you multiply any number by 9, then add the resulting digits and reduce them to a single digit, it always becomes a 9. For example, 6 x 9 = 54, reduce 54 to a single digit by adding them together: 5 + 4 = 9. Similarly, 8 x 9 = 72, and 7 + 2 = 9. Or 23 x 9 = 207, 2 + 0 + 7 = 9, and so forth. Any number, no matter how large, multiplied by 9 reduces to 9. From a numerological perspective, the 9 simply takes over. Any number that was initially increased by a factor of 9 loses its own identity and instead takes on the characteristics of the 9. No other number has that quality.

The last of the cardinal numbers, the 9 is the most worldly and sophisticated of all numbers. The 9, more than any other number, has global consciousness. The 9 lives in the world and understands the connections between all of mankind. It is a humanitarian, and sees no real difference between its neighbor next door and the person living in a very different culture and environment on the other side of the world.
